Our Story

OUR GOALS Our goals at Back On The Racks are: to offer our customers great savings on quality name-brand items while making the most money we can for our consignors, to have a vast and ever-changing selection to choose from, and to create a fun and friendly environment for our customers to shop in and our consignors to consign in! ABOUT THE SHOP Back On The Racks was opened in 2008 by Atascadero resident, Rocky Bedell.  Rocky saw the need for a place to shop for women's and kids' gear and also wanted to be able to give back to the community.  By opening a resale shop, Rocky was able to offer brand-name clothing in excellent condition at reasonable prices to her customers, and at the same time create a way for members of the community to give to local charities.  She accomplished this through the "No bag, thanks!" program in which a customer can choose to carry their purchased items by hand and donate the cost of a bag to one of three local charities.  Consignors can also choose to donate their items to a Charity Consignment Account in which case the profit that they would have made from the sale of their items goes directly to their chosen charity.  It's a great way to give back to the community! In late 2009, we moved to a bigger, better location at 5920 Entrada Avenue! ABOUT THE OWNER As for Rocky, she is a Management Information Systems graduate from the University of Arizona.  She worked in the Information Technology industry for 10 years before deciding to take some time off to get to know her kids!  She had the thought to open a consignment shop in 2006 but her kids were still very young and needed a lot of attention so she waited until they were old enough to vacuum the shop and clean toilets!  Just kidding!
